The unmistakable sound of vintage Simmons drums — sampled from an original Simmons SDS-200 analog drum synthesizer.
Released in the mid-1980s, the SDS-200 was a two-channel analog drum synth designed to create the huge, pitch-bending electronic tom sounds that defined an era. Instead of relying on digital samples, the SDS-200 generates its sounds through analog synthesis, producing everything from deep, booming toms and punchy electronic kicks to sharp snares and wild laser-like percussion.
We pushed the SDS-200 across a wide range of tunings, decay settings, pitch bends and tones to capture 40 unique one-shot drum samples:
24 Analog Toms
Deep, punchy and unmistakably Simmons. From tight electronic hits to massive descending pitch bends and classic 80s "pew" toms.
9 Analog Snares
Snappy electronic snares ranging from tight synth hits to noisy, aggressive analog percussion.
7 Analog Kicks
Punchy synthesized kicks ranging from short electronic thumps to deep, resonant low-end hits.
These samples are especially at home in Synthwave, New Wave, Post-Punk, Darkwave, Synth-Pop, Italo Disco, Electro, Industrial, Indie Electronic, Experimental Pop and 80s-inspired music. They're also great for adding unusual analog percussion to modern pop, hip-hop and electronic productions.
If you're looking for vintage Simmons drum samples, 80s drum machine samples, analog drum samples, electronic tom samples or SDS-style drums, this pack puts the character of the real hardware directly into your DAW, sampler or drum machine.
